Fun at Big Lagoon

We spent a few days at Big Lagoon and had lots to do!  I played in the sailboats, we watched them all go out, and it was really pretty!

Some other campers gave us a kite and Daddy taught me how to fly it.  I got to hold on to the string and it flew super high up into the sky.

Daddy showed me how to do a headstand!

 We made fires at night and made smores!

I got more bike riding time in.  Daddy taught me how to do a wheelieeeee!

Mommy's Favorite Campground...Big Lagoon (Northern California)

Years ago, Mommy, Grandma, and Uncle Garrett camped at a campground called Big Lagoon.  They showed up in this northern California area south of the Redwoods and the state campgrounds were full.  So they ended up in this beautiful spot on the shore of Big Lagoon.  This summer, we drove to the same campground to see if we could find a spot and the same exact spot was open!  This spot was right on the water, with the same sailboats as our view!  This picture below is the view out of the popup - nothing was more relaxing and beautiful on the whole trip.

 
Here is a view of what we looked at behind the popup - big, green trees.  There were all varieties of birds that lived up in the trees there.  One sounded like a cougar and another like a pig - it took us awhile to figure out they were really birds!

 It rained a little, but that didn't stop us from hanging out outside.

And here is the view from across the lagoon - it was so isolated and quiet at our site.  Like our own little oasis!

On to California

Something about Cheetos just puts our little O asleep!  At least on this day!  While we enjoyed the view, Olivia snacked on her sleepy snacks! 

One of Our Favorite Campgrounds - On the Coast Outside Bandon

We were a little nervous about showing up on the Oregon Coast on a Friday night without a plan for where we would camp, but we were pleasantly surprised to find this hidden jewel of a campground.  There was hardly anyone there so very quiet and thebig mossy trees towered above us.  We were only a small trip to the beach.   There was a pool that Olivia loved and they served a pancake breakfast in the morning.  It was really nice to be together as a family in such a beautiful quiet place.  We had a great few nights here (it was so dark at night!)

Despite the midst and rain, Olivia loved the pool/hottub.  She found this little tube and swam in it for an hour!  We had the hardest time getting her out.  (A few months later as we write this (Nov), Olivia has become a little fish.  She takes swim lessons twice a week with her school and she has started swimming everywhere!)

The Beautiful Beaches of Bandon, OR

Finally - we made it to one of mommy and daddy's favorite memories...Bandon, OR.  The Oregon Coast is a magical place and we loved out time there.  Our first stop, the grocery store, and although it didn't make any sense, we saw a horse in the parking lot.  We often take Daisy to the store and tie her up outside, but this was a first for us!  The horse didn't seem to like the picture taking though.

This beach is beautiful with huge rock formations everywhere.  We spent time playing in the sand and Daisy loved running around.

This guy had no problem sitting on the hood of the car.  We thought that whe awayn we started the car, he would surely fly away, but nope...he hung out until we actually drove away.  It was fun talking to him!

Daddy made sure I got some flying time in wherever we went.  Weeee!

Moving Down South...Camping on the Rouge River with the Syrings

After we left Salem, we drove south through the mountains to camp out on the Rouge River (and to float it of course!).  The campgrounds were really full so it was a little noisy, but we had a great time anyway!  I had a great time riding my bike around (and Daddy got a great workout!).  We stayed two nights on the river and got to float with John, Laura, and baby Owen.  It was a nice relaxing float (I even took a nap on the way!).  We saw jet boats go by and make huge waves on the beach where we ate lunch.  Looks like we forgot to take pictures of our float (or more likely they are on another camera!)

We had a nearby water spout that Owen and I had a ball playing in...my purple cowgirl hat helped keep the sun out of my eyes.

I loved helping Daddy pack up our rafting gear...it takes up most of the truck!  That is why the popup is the best for us!

The river spot was nice, but we were glad for our extra shade.

Miss Laura read books to me and Owen while everyone else packed up.  Owen had some great books I hadn't seen before.  We had a really great time with the Syrings!

Camping in Salem, OR (and helping Grandma move to CO!)

We had an easy drive to Oregon and our first stop was to Grandma's house. She was getting ready to move to Colorado so we made it just in time to help her pack things up.  Daddy was the big hero while we were there, packing up like crazy and getting a ton of work done!  Since Grandma's house was in "transition" we found a nearby campground to camp in.  Grandma and Uncle Garrett even came out and camped with us for a night.  I helped Daddy get the pop up set up (I learned how to use all the tools!).  We played with bubbles that Uncle Garrett brought for a long time.  I loved running after them.  We cooked a delicious dinner, roasted mashmellows, and had a great time being together.  We left Salem after a few days - the visit was too short!
